We all want the best value for our money. Who doesn’t like a bargain? Unfortunately, the lowest bid does not always provide the best value for money in the long run – especially when it comes to large-scale fabrication projects.
Don’t jump at the lowest price
The old saying, ‘you get what you pay for’, is very valid. Even if a fabrication company seems to be genuine and friendly, and to be making you an excellent offer – going for the very lowest price often leads to other hidden costs that will only present themselves when it’s too late to change supplier. Sloppy workmanship could result in products which end up not performing to expectations, or looking unattractive. Your project could also be hampered with slow production times and extended deadlines.
But this doesn’t mean that the most expensive fabricator is the best
All fabrication companies are not equal. Believe it or not, there are companies out there that don’t have much experience but still charge insanely high prices. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they are out to make a quick buck. It could be because they don’t yet know where to source the best materials from, at reasonable prices. They may add additional costs because their machinery is not the latest and fastest in the industry. Or it could simply be because they are quoting for a large-scale project out of fear of losing profit because they’ve only had experience with more modest or physically smaller fabrications. So, if cheap and cheerful doesn’t cut it and you also shouldn’t go for the highest quote, how would you go about selecting a metal fabrication company?
